Meet Elisa B. Hannan, DMD, MD

With a combination of technical skill, compassion, and a dedication to always delivering the highest standard of care, Dr. Hannan consistently strives to make a positive impact on the lives of her patients.

About Dr. Hannan

Dr. Hannan was raised in Saratoga, New York. As a year-round athlete, she had first-hand experience with facial trauma and the immediate impact a maxillofacial surgeon can have on one’s image and self-esteem. She had always had a passion for sciences and art and this is what drew her to oral and maxillofacial surgery. She is passionate about treating her patients with respect and providing excellent care.

 

Dr. Hannan’s professional interests include both office-based and hospital-based surgical procedures, including dental implants, extractions, pre-prosthetic surgery, oral and maxillofacial pathology, facial cosmetics, temporomandibular joint pathology, gender affirmation surgery, and corrective jaw surgery. She has participated in research and authored manuscripts in The Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery focusing on management of acute pain after third molar removal while minimizing opioid use, as well as benign pathology of the jaws and the surgical management.

 

Dr. Hannan spent many years shadowing the Avon practice when she was in dental school at UConn and is honored to become a member of the team.

 

Dr. Hannan is an assistant professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. She is established with Hartford Hospital and Connecticut Children’s Hospital.

Education & Residency

Dr. Hannan attended Le Moyne College and graduated summa cum laude with a biology major and biochemistry minor. She then received her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. She then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she earned her Doctor of Medicine and completed a two-year certificate in general surgery and residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Memberships

Dr. Hannan is an active member of the Maxillofacial and Craniofacial Trauma Surgery Team at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and Hartford Hospital. Her professional organizations include membership in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association and the Connecticut Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

 

Dr. Hannan is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

Hobbies & Interests

Dr. Hannan lives in the Farmington Valley area with her husband, Peter, and dog, Cali. Together they enjoy spending time in the great outdoors, hiking, biking and skiing.
